Entities that have historically participated as limited partners (LPs) in institutional funds—such as family offices, high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) and sovereign wealth funds (SWFs)—are increasingly exchanging their LP interest for principal risk, originating their own deal flow and pulling in outside capital on a per-deal basis.
